GLTC has the following positions available:
FULL-TIME and PART TIME OPERATORS: Bus Operators must have a good driving record and a Class B CDL with a P endorsement (or the ability to obtain). Pay rate is $12.80 after training. Candidates must be willing to work varying hours/days driving city buses.
PART-TIME CUSTOMER SERVICE AND SECURITY CLERKS: $11.00/Hour. Customer Service and Security Clerks answers the telephone, respond to passengers’ questions, documents passenger complaints, sells tickets and masses, monitors the radio and responds to bus operators, announces arrival and departure of all routes, monitors passenger waiting areas, keeps work area neat and clean and other clerical duties. Requires excellent customer service skills and ability to understand and communicate bus schedule information to the public verbally.
PART-TIME UTILITY PERSON: Building and grounds maintenance, minor repairs, cleaning stops and shelters, knowledge of plumbing and carpentry, grass cutting, snow removal, tree and hedge trimming, and fueling vehicles – $12.00 per hour. A valid operator’s license is required. Successful applicant must be able to work outside in temperature extremes (heat and cold), have the ability to lift/carry 75 lbs.

The Greater Lynchburg Transit Company (GLTC) is soliciting responses for conducting a
Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessment (ESA). The assessments will be conducted at our main administrative and maintenance facility at 1301 Kemper Street, Lynchburg, VA.
This Request for Proposal (RFP) provides the specifications and requirements for prospective applicants to complete a proposal with cost estimates for services. The deadline for submittal in response to this solicitation is May 30, 2013.

On behalf of the entire Greater Lynchburg Transit Company (GLTC) board, please join me for the groundbreaking of the Kemper Street Transfer Station. The ground breaking ceremony will take place at the project site, located at 800 Kemper Street at 9:00 AM on January 14th, 2013.
For the past four years, the GLTC and its design consultant, Wendel, have worked to locate and design the new transfer station. On January 14th, we will officially break ground on construction of our new 8,000 S.F. transfer facility that will provide our customers with improved convenience, amenities, and customer service.
Please join the GLTC Board and Staff, Wendel & Associates, and our contractor C.L. Lewis at this important event for GLTC and the City of Lynchburg. Refreshments will be served immediately afterwards in the Parks and Recreation Department located in Kemper Street Station.
